Created in 1998, LTER-IAFA (Anthropogenic Impacts on the Amazon Forest) is one of the oldest long-term research sites in Brazil. Located in the Central Amazon around the city of Manaus, LTER-IAFA has contributed to a better understanding of the interaction between temporal dynamics and environmental variation in space, as well as the potential synergistic effects of climate change and local anthropogenic disturbances on biological communities.
