23-10-2024 Frugivorous Butterfly Guides
Six guides, one for each conservation unit (UC) in Amazonas participating in the Monitora Program that agreed to join our project. These guides were developed to support the monitoring of frugivorous butterflies, illustrating the most common species found in the UCs and throughout the Brazilian Amazon.
In the guides, you will find a brief introduction to the project, titled 'Guides to the Frugivorous Butterflies of Amazonas: Information for Technical, Scientific, and Social Use', as well as a description of the different types of environments in the state of Amazonas, information about the Monitora Program, frugivorous butterflies, participating UCs, and the general characteristics of each butterfly tribe. We also include relevant bibliographic references for each species or group.
We hope you enjoy the diversity of species presented, the high-quality photographs, and that it will be useful for future Monitora campaigns. May these guides inspire the monitors to learn more about butterflies and feel valued for their work. We extend our thanks especially to them, the Monitora Program managers, and FAPEAM for the funding.

Environmental Education and Scientific Outreach at the Adolpho Ducke Botanical Garden in Manaus
With the urban expansion of Manaus toward the north, the Adolpho Ducke Forest Reserve – RFAD (PELD site) has come under significant anthropogenic pressure, particularly due to illegal hunting and removal of wood, sand, and non-timber products such as vines, fibers, and fruits.
